Today's Comment: We start our weekly drawing session with four five-minute poses before progressing to longer poses.

I'm always nervous about trying to put three or four poses on piece of paper because it's a real gamble that all three will be pleasing.

I think I was successful here because I adopted a very loose approach. I just shaded in the shadow areas

and added a few precise lines at spots that were key to describing the pose. I used a watercolor pencil (with no water),

which doesn't make a rich dark mark; hence the lightness of the image. - Miriam, 2-07-2010
