Styles: I offer a variety of styles, from realism to very gestural abstract-like portraits. Having a portrait painted is a wonderful experience. A portrait is more than an exact image of a person, it is an original work of art, a response to a shared moment between the sitter and the artist. It represents a person’s look, personality and experience.
How it's Done: I paint from life in my SouthEnd studio, and sitters say they really enjoy our time together. I also can paint from a photograph when that is the best option, for example, with young children. I shoot the photos to select the lighting and pose which will result in the best portrait.
Prices: My prices vary with size and material. Chalk or charcoal drawings start at $600 for a head-and-shoulders portrait and go up to $1,200 for a larger portrait that includes hands. Oil paintings start at $800 for a charming oil sketch and go up, depending on size and complexity.
